1.0 Introduction

Assalamualaikum. First of all, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nurul Ain Binti Mohamed Ghazali as your training manager at Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and I’m here today to talk about the various self-development programs that we are offering to all of you.  I have been informed that present today for this briefing is a new employee of the customer service unit. Before I start my speech, what do you understand about the self-development? The self-development is the process to develop the self towards a better and effective. The self-devolvement process at the individual level would recover cultural-identify and increase abilities and knowledge for self-esteem and innovation. (Rodríguez & María del, 2009). I would like to explain what are the self-development programs? The programs is designed to encourage new employees learn to increase their knowledge, improve personal skills, performance in a career and make self-confidence increases. It is also a process of educating new employees the basic skills they need in performing their duties. We will offer four programs to choose, the first program is Time Management Program which will help new employees in terms of time management such as employers will be trained to solve a job in a given period. The second program is Communication Skill Program, used to build self-confidence to speak in public such as, an employee needs to give a speech or share an opinion in the meeting room. For new employees Stress Management Program is the best program for them to attend to control stress in the workplace also managing the stress properly. The last program is concerned on Conflict Management Program that will focus on helping employees cope with the conflict between the management and co-workers.

Ladies and gentlemen. Here I would like to let you know the important and the reason you should attend those program? program that offer could help in improving participants towards self-development practices, learns to recognize the true potential, increase resilience stress to the daily working and the employees also aims to develop human capital, capable of running on soft skills in order to face challenges in the workplace. In addition, the skills, knowledge and abilities of individuals connected to the performance

and development of the learning process. Through training provided, the employees can improve their skills, knowledge and abilities in their careers. I would like to inform about the benefits of these self-development programs are to create individuals that possess talent and career skills required by an organization, the employees will be highly motivated in facing working environment thus contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency in performing tasks given. This program also will produce an employee who excels in what they are doing in the near future.

2.0 Time Management Programs

Ladies and gentlemen. Let me continue with the introduction of four programs that will be offered by us begin with Time Management Program. "How To Get Control of Your Time and Your Life" (Lakein, 1973). We often strapped for time in completing tasks given within the time. This program is specifically designed to train employees to manage their time wisely and properly. Everyone has a lot of time, but only persons who can discipline their lifestyle more productive and organized with a proper great time management. According to Lakein's (1973) description of time management, individual first determine their need and wants and then rank them in term of importance. The key words to improve personal productivity lies in how they manage their time and tackle the task that being top priorities. Time management skills are most important skills to become successful in life. It will determine the balance of life and a more productive lifestyle. This program will show you the methods of effective time management. This program will be held for 8 hours from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. The objective of this program is to create awareness of how you use your time and appreciation of the importance by using time efficiently and correctly, setting a goal to be achieved in time management and effective measures to achieve the goal, which would be able to determine the priority of a task and teaches how to focus on your primary task daily. In addition, it can identify how to not waste your time and ways to effectively overcome them. It might learn effective measures to erase the negative habits in your time management and build positive habits to use the time properly.

Ladies and gentlemen. Content in this program consists of 5 modules of learning to apply accurate knowledge in time management. The first module of this program is an introduction to understand what the true concept of time management, here the employee will be advised whether the definition of time? What is the meaning of time? How and where time needs to be used properly. The second module is to identify the habits of effective time management that begins with setting goals, personal mission, roles, and processes to achieve the proper time management. The third module will describe time management skills of effective scheduling techniques to plan weekly planning, daily planning and recording as well as schedule. The fourth module will introduce tips on how to save time like how to overcome interruptions while working, how to arrange and structure work tasks to save time as well as the techniques to avoid wasting of time. And the last module is the introduction to time management matrix that identify daily activities according to importance and necessity, most importantly, introduction to the basic principles of time management of highly effective people and attitude to emphasize the most important in our daily lives. Training will be given to employees in the form of discussions and group exercises, videos as well as the case study. Benefits of attending this program are able to produce more productive employees to complete the work and task given on time, employees are motivated in doing the work and good in time management.

3.0 Communication Skill Programs

Ladies and gentlemen. Let's move on to the second program about communication skills, communication skills does not come with its own but takes practice and effort to empower themselves by learning and practicing the rules of effective communication and interaction that provides value to the own self. One definition of communication is “any act by which one person gives to or receives from another person information about that person's needs, desires, perceptions, knowledge, or affective states. Communication may be intentional or unintentional, may involve conventional or unconventional signals, may take linguistic or non-linguistic forms, and may occur through spoken or other modes

(Valenzuela, D. & Scherba, J., 1992). In terms of employment, communication with managers and employees is a prerequisite for creating harmony and team spirit to build a high performance work ethics and excellent in enhancing service quality and productivity. These programs will exposure the theory and practice of communicating effectively to the participants. These skills will be emphasized to the understanding of the meaning of communication and how communication can occur. Skills that required is listening, use of oral messages and non-verbal communication as well as self-regulation and also barriers in communication. This program will be held for 9 hours from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. The objective of this program is to understand the role of communication, the importance of communication and the basics of effective communication, knowing the differences style of communicating, listening and communication skills, enhance their skills using body language to building good relationships with other employees, handle difficult communication situations positively and effectively also increase the confidence to interact at all levels.
                              
Ladies and gentlemen. In this program there are 5 main modules and the first learning module is an introduction to what is communication? And will be given a clear explanation of what the communication further. The second module is to teach and understand the difference style in communication which will explain more clearly about communication styles.  The third module is improving listening skills on how to listen in a right way. Fourth module shows you the best image through body language and non-verbal and the last module regarding difficulty to handle communications effectively and communicate with confidence.Training will be given to employees in the form of group discussions and exercises, videos and case study. Benefits of attending this program will give greater confidence to the employees to communicate more smoothly and orderly and this will make employees more confident in communicating in the future.




4.0 Stress Management Programs

Ladies and gentlemen. For the next program is related on how to face the problem and the program is Stress Management Program. According to Kane, H. (2007) Stress management encompasses techniques intended to equip a person with effective coping mechanisms for dealing with psychological stress. The program will prepare all the employees to avoid or minimize health symptoms caused by stress, in example, constipation, headache, and so on. Stress will affects everyone lifestyle and it includes interpersonal relations and bilateral relations involving either a family member or friend. As such it will ultimately minimize the productivity of the employees. This program has been specifically designed to solve a stressful work environment and an employee’s way of life. This program covers the definition of stress, contributing factors, impact on physiological and strategies to address them. This program is very useful to all employees who wish to deal with stress. This program will ensure awareness of the health symptoms of stress. This program will be held for 8 hours from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. The objective of this program is to gain knowledge on the characteristics of stress in the workplace, identify the factors contributing to stress, for example cannot complete the task on time given due to a lack of understanding, be able to increase resistance to stress in the workplace, giving way to treat stress and strengthen self-confidence and self-esteem of participants and applies pressure towards efficiency.

Ladies and gentlemen. In this program there are five learning modules, the first learning module includes an introduction to what it is in terms of stress and health psychology, physiology, and interpersonal relationships. The second module is Style Personality Tests will be used, namely the form of self-scoring to ensure that participants understand the pressure. The third module is to learn techniques to deal with stress everyday in management by Psychology either in a way of fighting or avoiding. The fourth module covers how to treat stress with exercise activities, socialize with people surrounding. And the last module is taught Workers always positive and motivating of preparing such strong mental mind awareness, an open mind and positive thinking. The program is intended that participants will pay full attention and do the entire structured practical

training.The focus of the program is the development of each individual participant to be able to have skills that can be used (know-how) and not just the level of knowledge (know what). Benefits of this program is to upgrade the quality of life of employees and at the same time can produce workers who have high resilience and can result in higher productivity for the organization.

5.0 Conflict Management Program

Ladies and gentlemen. The last program is a Conflict Management Program because mostly in the workplace there will be a conflict between co-workers and managers. Conflict management is the process of limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects of conflict. The aim of conflict management is to enhance learning and group outcomes, including effectiveness or performance in organizational setting (Rahim, 2002). What is conflict? It is an element in human life whether at work or anywhere else. It would explode due to the person who has the will and the understanding that often conflict with the needs and understanding of others, whether by employers, colleagues, family, self or others who need to deal with it. If there is a conflict in the workplace, it will lead to an attitude not cooperate with each other, it will make the difference in the goals and not enough explanation in the objectives. It may also be a low-skill worker to hear and low in the use of language. This program will be held for 7 hours from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Ladies and gentlemen. The objective of this program is to enable students to understand more about own self and others help to build more open minded attitude in recognizing and understanding the differences that exist in every individual surrounding. This program can also improve skills in reducing any serious conflict in ensuring a harmonious working environment and the last will be able to improve their skills in handling any pressure and is able to manage the situation very well.

Ladies and gentlemen. Learning modules for this program is on identifying the causes of conflict in an organization, the second module is to learn conflict management

procedures of how to manage a conflict. The third module is to learn how to communicate in a harmonious and effective negotiation to avoid conflict. The next module is to identify common conflicts occur in an organization. And the last module is to build a perspective of looking through a broader view and more positive. Training will be given to employees in the form of group discussions and exercises, videos and case study. Benefit of attending this program can create a work environment in harmony with the understanding opinion and enhance collaboration between groups within an organization.

6.0  Conclusion

Ladies and gentlemen. So here I want to urge to all the employees sincerely seeking to join the programs we offer, because this will lead to the development of greater self-confidence in yourself and your ability to overcome every obstacle in life to achieve success in the future, in fact a lot of the success factors influenced by confidence. This means that you are more confident in the ability of yourself and your future, and then you the success will come to you. Actually the programs offer is shaping up towards success in the long term and short term of working environment in the organization. To equip ourselves with knowledge and experience as dedicated and enthusiastic employees are not limited to the workplace but also outside the office. Skills are like weapons in times of war and also when it comes to office hour, the skills needed to be a very dedicated employees, discipline and successful in the future.
